Disaster Resilience and Climate Change Adaptation

BAHAR has developed a comprehensive Disaster Resilience and Climate Change Adaptation in response to the growing frequency of natural disasters in Bangladesh. The country has faced severe flooding in recent years, particularly in regions like Sylhet, Chittagong, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, and Barisal. These areas have experienced unprecedented flash floods and extreme weather events, which have devastated communities, homes, and livelihoods. In light of these challenges, BAHAR’s Rapid Flood Relief Initiative provides immediate relief by delivering essential supplies such as food, water, and medical aid to affected populations. Beyond emergency response, this initiative also focuses on strengthening resilience in flood-prone areas by developing long-term strategies to address the growing impact of climate change.

Additionally, since 2017, BAHAR has been deeply committed to supporting Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. This vulnerable population, fleeing violence and persecution in Myanmar, has faced extreme hardships in refugee camps. BAHAR provides essential humanitarian aid, including food distribution, medical services, emergency shelter, and necessary household items, ensuring that refugees have access to basic needs and support. BAHAR’s efforts in collaboration with local and international partners demonstrate their commitment to assisting these marginalized communities in both the short and long term. To date, BAHAR’s Rohingya support program has benefitted 700 individuals, helping them rebuild their lives and contributing to the stability and security of the refugee community.

Through these humanitarian initiatives, BAHAR continues to play a pivotal role in disaster response and resilience building, addressing both immediate needs and promoting long-term solutions for vulnerable populations.
