Climate Action for Sustainable Development

In the vulnerable coastal regions of Bangladesh, road infrastructure is a lifeline-essential for ensuring access to education, healthcare, markets, and emergency services. Yet, these communities regularly face environmental threats such as river erosion, waterlogging, and flash floods, which damage roads and isolate entire villages.

Recognising these pressing challenges, BAHAR has launched a focused initiative to build durable, disaster-resilient roads that improve connectivity and safeguard daily life in high-risk areas. So far, BAHAR has successfully constructed two vital roads, directly benefiting thousands of individuals by enabling smoother, safer access to essential services and economic opportunities.

These new roads are more than just transportation routes-they are pathways to resilience. Built with sustainability in mind, they are designed to withstand the harsh environmental conditions that regularly impact the region.

A core strength of BAHAR’s approach lies in its commitment to community-focused development. By addressing infrastructure gaps through long-term, climate-conscious planning, BAHAR is not only improving quality of life but also contributing to the broader goal of sustainable development.

Through this initiative, BAHAR is empowering coastal communities to adapt to the realities of climate change, reduce isolation, and build a stronger foundation for the future-road by road.
